Community
Catlin and its people aim to make meaningful contributions to the communities in which its offices are located. Our strategy is to support local projects through community involvement and to make charitable donations.

Support criteria
Generally, we focus on initiatives that relate to youth and education, although all worthy causes are considered. They should also:
- be in line with our corporate values
- build commitment and engagement through involvement in 'giving back' to local communities
- provide learning and development opportunities
- support recruitment.
We have a Community Committee, which co-ordinates our charitable contributions and activities centrally, with members from across the Group globally.

Volunteering
Volunteering benefits the business, communities and individual Catlin people. We are actively encouraged to get involved with fundraising and volunteering, and all Catlin people are entitled to a minimum of one day paid leave each year for volunteering activities.
As an example of volunteering at Catlin in 2010, those working in the Catlin US office in Walnut Creek, California, volunteered a day of service at St. Anthony’s Dining Room in San Francisco. St. Anthony’s is a charity that has been serving meals to the poor and homeless in an impoverished area of San Francisco since 1950. During their day, the Catlin US team cooked, waited tables and washed dishes. Altogether, 1,800 meals were served to local residents that day.
Match funding
We match funds raised by an individual or group through sponsorship activities for a qualified charity up to an annual limit of US$1,000 (£500).
